Eight years, and almost nothing written down

A black and white photograph of the two founders, Peter Beke and Hannah Blackburn, on a yellow background, above the words: Eight years. Zero posts.

We've been running The Hawker's Club for eight years. In that time I've written almost nothing on LinkedIn.

Not strategy. We were busy, the work came through referrals, and posting always felt like the thing you do when you need clients rather than when you have them.

I've changed my mind, for one reason. Most of what we know about Amazon isn't written down anywhere a brand can find it. Peter and I both worked inside Amazon. We spend our weeks looking at remittances, PO patterns and contribution margin across dozens of accounts, and the same misunderstandings come up again and again. Vendors escalating to a VM about a decision no person made. Brands writing off deductions that were charged in error. Teams choosing between 1P and 3P on blended margin, which can't answer the question.

None of that is secret. It's just not shared, because the people who know it are busy doing the work.

So I'm going to write something here every week. Mostly the unglamorous mechanics: what Amazon's systems actually reward, where money goes missing, what we see across accounts that you can't see from inside one.

If there's something you've always wanted a straight answer on, ask. That's a decent place to start.
